Palm Terrace Lounge heads south of the border with a selection of tantalizing tequila concoctions, such as La Isla Bonita with Patron Silver, Chambord, Triple Sec, lime juice and pineapple juice ($9); and delectable tacos with the finest fillings, such as Ahi Tuna, Maine Lobster, Smoked Duck and Beef Tenderloin. Back by popular demand, the irrepressible Jimmy Hopper returns to Island Hotel Newport Beach on Wednesday, June 18, bringing his dynamic vocals and rocking three-piece band to the property’s plush Palm Terrace Lounge. The nattily attired Hopper – with his trademark white spiked hair, incredible four octave range and eclectic musical repertoire – is sure to draw standing-only room crowds.
From Sinatra to Sting to Springsteen, Hopper performs a high energy mix of nostalgic, romantic, pop, country and operatic tunes from a range of musical eras – as well as original works. His lively, engaging style and pitch perfect singing voice appeal to music fans of all ages, as evidenced by rave reviews from the press and public alike.
Palm Terrace Lounge, a lively yet intimate spot for enjoying refreshing signature cocktails and Executive Chef Bill Bracken’s signature “small bites.” A special mid-week “Social Hour” series from 4 to 8 p.m. includes the following: Tuesday’s “Burgers and Beer” (including five mouthwatering sliders), Wednesday’s “Pizza and Pinot” and Thursday’s “Tacos & Tequila”. Sliders, mini-pizzas and tacos are 2 for $5 with choice of cocktail.

The smooth sounds of jazz return to the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach each summer during the three-month Newport Beach Jazz Series, hosted by The Wave 94.7. In addition to popular tunes by such jazz greats as Bobby Caldwell and Richard Elliott, attendees enjoy a selection of food and wine amidst an unforgettable setting. In 2005, the festival was expanded to 20 concerts, held on consecutive Friday nights June through October, including a special Fourth of July concert with fireworks. |

Bites & Delights continue in the Lounge on Wednesdays with “Pizza & Pinot”. Tempting specialty pizzas created by Chef Bracken – including a lusty Taleggio and Crushed Truffles with Lobster and Chives, and the Classic Margarita – are paired with exceptional Pinots by the glass, such as Pahlmeyer “Jayson”, Sonoma Coast, 2005. Mini pizzas are 2 for $5 with a glass of Pinot. Pinots are priced at $12 to 35 per glass. Wednesdays at Palm Terrace Lounge.

Bryan Kane, owner and winemaker of Sol Rouge, located north of Napa, California in the Red Hills Appellation, will host and pour five of his small-production, highly-allocated wines at the Wine Lab Newport on Friday August 22, 2008 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sol Rouge, translated “Red Soil” in French, is a 70-acre family estate vineyard located at elevations over 1,800 feet in the foothills of a dormant volcano that formed the North Coast wine country. “The land contains rich, red volcanic soil, and is planted with Grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah, Counoise, Petite Syrah, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc,” Kane said. “We focus on bringing the true flavor and characteristics of the vineyard through our wines.” The Sol Rouge wines will include the 2006 Grenache Lake County, 2006 “The Gypsy” Lake County, 2005 Syrah Thompson vineyard, 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Lake County, and a few special selections that Bryan will bring to taste. The tasting includes five, two-ounce pours of each wine and the cost is $20.00 per person.
Wine Lab Newport is located at 2901 West Coast Highway, just one-fourth mile south of Newport Boulevard in Newport Beach.
