Opera Pacific presents in Segerstrom Hall – Dead Man Walking – First a best-selling book, then a major film and now Dead Man Walking is an unforgettable opera with an inspired score by Jake Heggie and a moving libretto by Tony Award-winning playwright Terrence McNally. The opera, which had its world premiere in San Francisco, was one of the most successful new operas in the company’s 76-year history and was internationally praised by critics. The Opera Pacific cast, conducted by John DeMain, artistic director, includes several from the original cast including Frederica vo Stade in her long-awaited Opera Pacific debut, Krisin Jepson and John Packard. In the Early 20th Century, the Collyer brothers live in relative obscurity in their Park Avenue mansion. Langley is a pianist who performs rarely but successfully, and Homer’s job is to keep him from squandering the family fortune. One evening after a concert, they return with a beautiful young socialite in tow. But a peculiar lifestyle is developing as a growing accumulation of rubbish fills the mansion.
