| "HOOKED" The Lure and Lore of Sportfishing |

http://www.nhnm.org The Newport Harbor Nautical Museum will present "Hooke The Lure and Lore of Sportfishing", a comprehensive exhibition focusing on the unique history of salt-water fishing and it's origins in Southern California Coastal waters. Antique fishing gear, vintage photographs, paintings and memorabilia will deal with the evolution of sportfishing from the early years when ocean anglers such as Charles Frederick Holder and Zane Grey helped establish salt-water fishing as a sport, through the Golden Years when anglers discovered new fishing grounds and developed, through trial and error increasingly sophisticated techniques and tackle catching and landing the "big ones".
The exhibit runs through February 29, 2004 in the museum's Grand Salon Gallery. Hours are 10-5 Tuesday through Sunday.

The Orange County Museum of Art and the Automobile Club of Southern California present Cities of Promise: Imaging Urban California, an exhibition exploring the representation of California cities and suburbs in 20th Century art. The exhibit focuses on the architecture, roads, railways, and bridges that mark the state’s landscape and on how artists have chronicled the distinctive evolution of its metropolises. The exhibition addresses architecture and infrastructure as a reflection of American aspirations of freedom and modernity, community, and civic pride.

With an audience of over 500 people expected to attend, the Business at the Beach Business Exposition is a great opportunity for local businesses to showcase their goods and services. The event takes place on Wednesday, February 11 from 5-8 p.m. at the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Tennis Club (900 Newport Center Dr., Newport Beach). Organized by the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce, the event is FREE for the general public to attend. Enjoy great networking, appetizers, a no host bar and fabulous door prizes.
Last year, nearly 70 Chamber member and non-member businesses participated as exhibitors. With only a limited number of exhibitors permitted, booth space is going quickly and businesses are encouraged to sign up early. Price for a single exhibitor space is $300 for members, and $650 for non-members (exhibitor space includes a 6’ x 8’ pipe and drape booth space, 6’ draped table and chairs.) Price for a double space is $650 for members and $1,000 for non-members (double booths are located in premium corner locations.)
