Bridget Lindquist Receives Cornerstone Award for her Support of the Organization
The Southern California Chapter of the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association (HSMAI) recognized Bridget Lindquist, deputy director of the Newport Beach Conference & Visitors Bureau, with the Cornerstone Award for her support of the chapter’s growth and continued development. The award was presented at a special chapter meeting on Thursday, February 27, 2003.
HSMAI is the largest international association of travel sales and marketing professionals. Founded in 1927, HSMAI is an international association of over 5,000 active sales and marketing professionals representing all segments of the hospitality industry. With a strong focus on education, HSMAI has become the industry champion in identifying and communicating trends while operating as a leading voice for hospitality, sales, marketing and management disciplines.

Bridget Lindquist has been with the Newport Beach Conference & Visitors Bureau for three years, and has been a Newport Beach resident for more than 10 years. Prior to joining the Bureau, she spent 20 years working at Disneyland in various departments including local, convention and group sales.

Corporate & Incentive Travel Magazine Readers Honor Newport Beach CVB for Outstanding Service
The Newport Beach Conference & Visitors Bureau is one of just four tourism bureaus in California selected by Corporate & Incentive Travel Magazine for its annual “Award of Excellence.” This marks the first year the CVB has been honored by the readers of the magazine, which is written for corporate meeting and incentives planners responsible for selecting sites, facilities, accommodations, transportation and destinations on behalf of their companies or clients.
The Newport Beach CVB is among 150 conference and visitors bureaus in the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean named by the magazine’s readers for outstanding service. In an open poll, published by the magazine in May 2003, readers were asked to submit the name of the CVB that best served their corporate meetings and/or incentive travel programs during the past year. The full results of the poll will be announced in the November 2003 issue of Corporate & Incentive Travel.
“We have a tremendous staff that works very hard to ensure the expectations of all the groups meeting in Newport Beach are exceeded,” said Marta Hayden, CMP, executive director, Newport Beach Conference & Visitors Bureau. “This award honors that effort, and will help make Newport Beach even more appealing to other meeting and incentives planners looking for a service-oriented locale for their next corporate event.”

Meetings & Conventions Magazine has announced the winners of the Gold Service Award for 2002. For the second year in a row, the Newport Beach Conference & Visitors Bureau has been recognized. The awards will be presented at the Meetings & Conventions Gala Ceremony on November 8 in New York City.
The Newport Beach CVB is among 80 conference and visitors bureaus worldwide selected by the magazine’s readers for top service. Selection criteria is based on staff professionalism, transportation planning assistance, local attraction knowledge, support for hotel site inspections and liaising with area vendors and services

Orange County Tourism Council Recognizes Carolyn Clark
Visitors to Newport Beach now have yet another top-notch asset at their fingertips – Carolyn Clark, sales coordinator for the Newport Beach Conference & Visitors Bureau (NBCVB).
Clark was nominated for a “Service Excellence Award” from the Orange County Tourism Council during a gala on March 31, 2004, at the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa in Huntington Beach. As a nominee in one of seven categories – Commerce/Convention & Visitors Bureau – Clark was also considered for the top honor – the Walter Kott Award for “The Tourism Person of the Year.”
The Service Excellence Awards recognize travel, tourism and hospitality professionals and volunteers who go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure people visiting Orange County have a positive experience they will remember for many years to come.
“My job is a true joy,” said Clark. “I help people plan memorable vacations and meetings that introduce them to all of the fabulous dining, shopping and recreation opportunities that Newport Beach has to offer.”
As sales coordinator, Clark is responsible for coordinating NBCVB-sponsored events and leading group tours to familiarize meeting planners, travel agents and other professionals with the recreation and business opportunities Newport Beach has to offer.

Newport Beach, CA – A dedication to quality service is key to maintaining customers and is also the key to winning Meetings & Conventions’ Gold Service Award. Now in its 21st year, this prestigious award honors Convention & Visitors Bureaus that have excelled in professionalism and dedication in their service to meeting professionals.
This year 82 domestic and international CVBs were honored with the Gold Service distinction by the readers of M&C.; Relying on their extensive industry experience in both corporate and association markets M&C;’s readers made their selections based on strict criteria including: professionalism of staff; support on hotels and site inspections; assistance with ground transportation planning; guidance on local attractions; and liaison with local venders and services.
